Global Talent visa: Film and Television – prestigious prizes & endorsing body
Global Talent visa Film and Television Endorsing body: The Producers Alliance for Film and Television (PACT) assess Global Talent applications from actors, artists and practitioners working in the film, television, animation, post-production or visual effects industries on our behalf. It is also important to note that Exceptional Promise is not available for people working in these areas.
Exceptional Promise in other Global Talent fields is for those who are emerging leaders in their field. However, in the Film and Television category, only those who already reached the status of leaders in their field can qualify. There are specific endorsement criteria that are applied by the PACT endorsing body.
It is important to note that applicants who hold one of the prestigious prizes listed in the Appendix Global Talent: Prestigious Prizes are eligible to apply for a Global Talent visa without the need to obtain an endorsement.
Global Talent visa – the applicant has been awarded a prestigious prize
Applicants who hold one of the prestigious prizes listed in the Appendix Global Talent: Prestigious Prizes are eligible to apply for a Global Talent visa without the need to obtain an endorsement. These prizes have been identified by the relevant Global Talent endorsing bodies as demonstrating exceptional talent.
The applicant must be a named recipient of the prize and the prize issued by the relevant body must not have been withdrawn or suspended. For more details about assessing eligibility for prestigious prizes see: Appendix Global Talent: Prestigious Prizes.
What are the PACT’s endorsement criteria for Global Talent in Film and Television
Applicants who wish to be endorsed as a recognised leader in the fields of Film, Television, Animation, Post-Production and/or Visual Effects must show evidence for one of the following:
1. Have won (at any time), or in the last 10 years from the date of application have received a nomination for, one of the following awards:
– an Academy Award,
– a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) (Film, Television, Craft, Cymru, Scotland and Games only) Award,
– a Golden Globe, or
– an Emmy Award.
OR
2. Have, within the last 10 years from the date of application, made a significant and direct contribution to winning or being nominated for one of the awards mentioned above.
OR
3. Have, within the last 15 years, achieved a minimum of two nominations for one of the awards mentioned above.
OR
4. Can demonstrate notable industry recognition by providing evidence of:
1. international distribution sales and recognition; and
2. having achieved one of the following:
· at any time, won a minimum of two Notable Industry Recognition Awards for at least two different productions. Where the production(s) are films, the films must have had a theatrical release;
· at any time won one, and,within the last six years before the date of application, have been nominated for one other Notable Industry Recognition Awards for at least two different productions. Where the production(s) are films, the films must have had a theatrical release;
· within the last six years before the date of application, have been nominated for a minimum of three Notable Industry Recognition Awards for at least two different productions. Where the production(s) are films, the films must have had a theatrical release; or
· within the last three years before the date of application, made a significant and direct contribution to winning or being nominated for three Notable Industry Recognition Awards for at least two different productions. Where the production(s) are films, the films must have had a theatrical release.
What supporting documents are required by PACT
To show that you meet the requirements you must provide:
• 3 letters of endorsement, from organisations or individuals in the film and television industry (1st one must be from a UK based arts and cultural organisation, institution or company; 2nd one must be from an arts and cultural organisation, institution or company, which may or may not be UK based; 3rdone must be from either a third arts and culture organisation (based either in the UK or overseas) or from an eminent individual with recognised expertise in the applicant’s specialist field
• evidence of each award they were nominated for or won, including: full details of the production nomination or award, including category and year of nomination or award o evidence of the applicant’s involvement if the nomination or award was as part of a group o evidence of the credit the applicant received for the nomination or award o if the applicant is claiming credit for an award where they made a significant and direct contribution, evidence of their significant and direct contribution to the win or nomination
• up to 10 pieces of supporting documentation (which will be listed on the stage 1 application form).
What is the processing time for PACT endorsement
On average, it can take two to three weeks from receipt of the application from Arts Council England for PACT to review an application and send the endorsement decision to Arts Council England. Decisions on applications can be delayed where applications do not include all valid contact information required to verify authors of letters of endorsements.
What is the processing time for Global Talent visa application
The standard processing time for Global Talent visa application submitted from outside the UK as entry clearance is approximately 3 weeks.
The standard processing time for Global Talent visa applications submitted from inside the UK is approximately up to 8 weeks.
